Printer part
What's a nozzle?
The hot metal tip that melts filament and lays it down, one thin line at a time.
- Standard size0.4 mm
- Usually made ofbrass
- Runs at190–300 °C
Why it matters
- Its size sets the line width: smaller is finer detail, bigger is faster and stronger.
- Every single line of your print comes out of it.
Tips from the workshop
- Carbon fibre and glow-in-the-dark filaments wear brass out: use a hardened steel nozzle.
- Thin, gappy lines often mean a partial clog.
- Never touch it, even when the printer looks idle: it can still be very hot.
