Printer part

What's a brim?

A few extra loops printed around the first layer, like the brim of a hat, to help a part grip the bed.

Meet BriA brim sticks to the bed and won't let go. Bri sticks to the crew the same way.
your parttop view: brim loops grip the bed

Why it matters

  • More grip on the bed means corners stay flat instead of curling up (warping).
  • Tall, thin parts are less likely to tip over mid-print.

Tips from the workshop

  • Leave a tiny gap between brim and part so it snaps off clean.
  • "Mouse ears" are mini brims only at the corners.
  • ABS and other warp-prone filaments love a brim.
