The Glam Squad

What's glow-in-the-dark filament?

A base plastic (PLA or PETG) filled with strontium aluminate, which soaks up light and glows in the dark.

Meet GloGlo charges up in the light and glows for hours. Also eats brass nozzles.

Base plasticPLA or PETGMixed instrontium aluminate (the glowing powder)

Why it matters

  • Most of the glow comes in the first 1.5 hours; in total darkness a weak glow lasts 6–8 hours (Prusament PETG Ultraglow).
  • The powder is very abrasive: Prusa calls its glow PETG the most abrasive material it has made.

Tips from the workshop

  • Use a hardened nozzle; Prusa recommends 0.6 mm and a standard (not high-flow) nozzle.
  • Charge it under UV light. Daylight or a strong LED work, slower; a warm, weak bulb barely does.
