Vinyl record coasters
Six records, a crate to flip through, and charms that click in.
- 6 records + crate
- Fits a standard mug
- Click-in charms
- No glue, no supports
The story
It started with a coaster set for friends. Once the drip lip and the push-fit charms worked, the obvious next question was: what would a music lover want on their table? A stack of records you can flip through like you're digging in a record shop.
Each coaster is a 105 mm record with 13 engraved grooves and a colour label, sized so a standard mug sits inside the lip. The crate holds all six standing up, sticking out the top like a real crate, with slatted sides and a handle at each end.
The charms (a music note, a mini record and a cassette) share one push-fit peg with every other set we make, so any charm fits any holder.

Fail log
What went wrong while designing it, and what fixed it.
Failed: The first crate slots were sketched on the wrong plane and cut sideways through the walls.
Fixed: Rebuilt the slots on the crate floor, then checked every part for clashes in the assembly.
Failed: The first push-fit charms (0.15 mm play) were too tight: one barely went in, one never did.
Fixed: Printing fit tests: slimmed pegs, then crush ribs that squash to a snug fit. The kit ships the size that wins.
